The Mushroom asked three notable video game characters - Princess Peach, Mario, and Luigi - to share their thoughts on 2013. Their ups, downs, and memorable experiences. Here are their responses.

"I tore last year a new one, no doubt. I launched my hardcore rap career and made a mountain of money. My hit single, "Can't F*** This MotherF***ing Princezz," won a bunch awards. Got arrested for keepin' in good in the hood. Got some new bling, and f***ed a lot of hoes. A lot of hoes."

"I'm grateful that I can finally move on with my life after the IRS investigated my financial records and sent me away for most of the year for tax evasion. Though I believe paying taxes is a vital part of being a member of a society, I still believe that... oh, my publicist says I shouldn't say anymore. Thank you."

"Well, I wrote a book, "Living In The Shadow Of A Monster," about my childhood. It reached Mushroom Kingdom's #1 Bestseller List. Nintendo renamed 2013 as The Year of Luigi. That was pretty nice. We really got the ball rolling on getting gay marriage legal in the Mushroom Kingdom. So many things to be grateful for!"
